Put your mind to it, go for it....

Get down and break a sweat...

My goal for this week is to work out 3 days. Yes, it's already Wednesday and I only have until Saturday to get in my workouts THIS WEEK. So, I suppose I'll be walking the streets of New Orleans this weekend. But in all honestly, I realized this morning (As I broke all of my previous weight barriers and broke into a NEW WEIGHT CLASS....and no I did not move into featherweight but rather heavyweight...UGH) that there is always something to keep me from doing what I know I need to do. For example, last weekend was Dave's birthday. I knew there would be great meals, desserts, dinner with friends and BOTH of our families. We ate our way through the weekend. Tonight I have book club where we always have a glass of wine and sit and eat appetizer after appetizer and dissect the bachelor and whether or not Lil'Kim really should have been voted off of DWTS Before Ty Murray.... I mean, we discuss the book.....

You see, there is ALWAYS something. I have said time and again that I need to do something to take care of this weight gaining issue I have been dealing with for the last 2 years. I have been so happy to be married and be with my friends, and all we seem to do to show how happy we are is to EAT! We get together and talk and laugh and EAT. We celebrate a birthday or a baby or a marriage or a promotion or absolutely nothing except life by eating! It's all well and good until your clothes don't fit. And by that I mean all the new clothes that I bought when my FIRST round of non-fitting clothes were retired. This is round 2.

Game on. I have set my goal and you're more than welcome, in fact encouraged, to ask me if I am following it through. I'm a great starter and not so great of a finisher because of the aforementioned joys. I allow lots of fun things to get in the way of what I know I need to do. I seem to really do well for 3 weeks and then some fun thing breaks the cycle and I'm back to square one. So, I'm going to set little goals instead of big ones. My current little goals are to not eat the strawberry shortcake that is currently in my refrigerator (birthday leftover, which left alone with me would be consumed in its entirety...), work out 3 times this week (between today and Saturday) and go eat before book club tonight so I won't sit and eat my NEW weight in chips and dip.

And just for a little inspiration....

I do believe you and I are kindred spirits! I, too, have been on a steady weight incline since my wedding. I have gained approximately two pounds a month since the big day....yikes! Let's not do the math on that one. My 'wake-up call' was last night when I created a profile on our new Wii Fit only to discover that the stupid game labeled me as "overweight". Are you kidding?!?! Really?!?! Sigh.... My overweight self and I need to get motivated to get this extra weight off!!! Need a work-out/weight loss buddy??

You can do it girl! The good news is, is you set an absurdly high goal! If you work out 3 times this week, that will triple what you did last week. I did that for myself... set an absurdly high goal and then went for it. By the end of the week I was DEAD tired, but I met my goal and was in a total work out habit.

Did you watch BL last night? I think it's ok to enjoy those things, and HATE to be the odd man out at parties... "Oh I can't eat that, I'm on a DIET!" Enjoy, just cut back or maybe eat something on yoru way there so you won't be as hungry. Or better yet... check out Hungry Girl and make healthier versions=)

I think i probably should have just emailed you! Anyway... good luck girl! We are ALL rooting for you!
