Am I on Candid Camera??

Y'all, I can't make this stuff up! So I have been in Dallas since last Thursday for work. I apologize there was no Fabulous Find Friday, but I'm not cool enough to have an iPhone to update from. Maybe if my readership reaches unprecedented numbers I will be forced to have unlimited media access. I'm sure that day is right around the corner.....back to the Big D...

I have been at a conference surrounded by superintendents, school administrators and school board members. I'm sure I have met some of your cities finest in the past few days. All that to describe my surroundings the majority of the week/weekend. Dave came to Dallas on Friday after he got off work so we could have a little hang out time in the evenings, so Saturday night, we headed out to the House of Blues where the title sponsor of the conference was holding their shen-dig. Imagine our surprise/sheer joy when we arrived back to the hotel to find TONS...I mean TONS of people dressed in Cowboys/Redskins paraphernalia. This one lady was my FAVORITE and by the time I got my camera she was gone. She was in head to toe Redskins stuff, had on her #21 Jersey (RIP Shaun Taylor...) and her rally towel....yes, you read that right...her rally towel tucked into her shorts.

The fans were out in full force Sunday morning at 10am getting ready for the big game. I knew no one would believe me, so I got out my camera and Dave got in the car. :) Cowboy fans mean business!

YEP, they absolutely knew I was taking this.

Been hit with a few shells, now I walk with a limp... -Fitty Cent

I was almost slugged by David last night when I began singing this with a chuckle....I will explain. You see, my mom e-mailed yesterday telling me that she and my dad set out at NINE PM to walk to our house on Tuesday night. They made it almost halfway and then decided to turn and head home. The thing is, there is not a "great" route. One of the major streets you have to walk on is PITCH black, and for a good portion of the way, there is little to no shoulder on the aforementioned pitch black street. Has the makings of a successful walk, huh?

So my bright idea was that David and I would just leave a little bit earlier and accomplish this feat. It is approximately 5 miles from doorstep to doorstep. We hurried through dinner (which was good by the way! Go me!) and started our walk at 7:50pm. *Let me interject...Dave had a small blister on his heel from our 45 minute walk the day before, and we had no band-aids, so he started the walk knowing it was a potential problem. So we start the walk and we are talking and enjoying the BEAUTIFUL night. The weather was just perfect. We get about 20 minutes into the walk and we pass a street called Fern Bluff, at which point David says, "FERN BLUFF! Geez! On the map that looks like it's right around the corner! We have a LONG way to go!" Sign #1 we were in for it...

We continued walking, and walking, and walking, and we turned onto Hairy Man... which is the portion of the program with NO STREET LIGHTS. Good thing we had the foresight to bring the mini-MAGlight! Dave turns on our light and about 5 minutes down that street our little light starts to go dim. Goodie! So we turn it off and use the occasional passing car as our guide light. Low and behold, I hear a MAJOR rustling to the right of me in the woods....don't worry, I handled it very well, I screamed very low and only jumped about 2 feet in the air as opposed to 5. Well, when I did, Dave kind of jumped too. It was pretty funny. It was Bambi on steroids staring strait at us! I'm sure it was wondering what in the heck we were doing out there in the pitch black at 8:45.....so were we at this point!

On we go....another 10 minutes pass and we come to a sign that says, "Trail ends 100 feet". Fan-freaking-tastic. So now, not only are we past the point of no-return, walking in pitch black with a dead MAGlight, but now our trail ends. This is where we begin walking on the road (with no shoulder) and getting very weird looks (I'm sure) from passing cars. Dave is now limping because his blisters (yes, it's blisterS because now there is one on each foot...) are the size of Texas and completely rubbed raw and we have to sprint across a BRIDGE because, again, no shoulder. Not the smartest thing we have ever done. Dave begins to wonder why I had this bright idea before driving our route.....I don't know.

We FINALLY make it off the scary road and are in a housing addition....I was never so happy to see street lights and sidewalks in my life! At this point though, there is a major wrinkle in the plan because Dave is walking with a full limp....it wasn't funny, but it really kind of was. I love you friend!

So, he is being a really good sport because, after all, it was my bright idea. I'm trying to get his mind off the pain and make him laugh and I start singing a little Fitty Cent.... "I'm a player a pimp, I've been hit with a few shells and now I walk wit' a limp..." I start laughing and he didn't think I was as funny as I did! Oh well....

We make it to my parents and honestly, it only took us one hour and 18 minutes! Pretty good since we were nursing a cripple the last 2 miles! Mom gave us water and me a new pair of shoes before taking us home. See, the trip WAS worth it! No mountain is too high when it comes to a new pair of shoes!

We decided we actually felt really good and weren't really tired outside of the blister issue. We might even try it again! But next time, in complete daylight! Thanks Dave, you were a great sport!! XOXO

PS...i tried to Mapquest our route, but couldn't get it to work. I'll leave it to your imagination. :)

Yeah, real glamorous!

Of course life is glamorous and fabulous....so glamorous am I that yesterday, I could barely button my pants! Yep. You read that right. I got up, realized all of my "everyday" type pants were dirty and grabbed a pair that I haven't worn in a while. A while being 3 months or so....not 3 years! I grabbed said pair of pants, went upstairs, ironed them and then had approximately 30 seconds to get dressed and get out the door since Dave was standing by the front door tapping his foot....I was nearing AIS time!

*Insert comment: Have you ever seen the Everybody Loves Raymond episode where Ray tells Deborah she is always late and he hates to be late? They decide they will have an ETD (estimated departure time) but then an AIS time...ass in seat. Love it. Ray had a benefit that night and Deborah promised to be on time. They decided their AIS time, and if Deborah wasn't there, he had full permission to leave her...Ray and Deborah have a very similar story to Dave and Tiffany.....back to my story.....

So, I ran downstairs after ironing my clothes and threw on my pants. One MAY-JA problem...they were approximately one inch away from zipping. You think I'm joking. I literally squeeze myself into the pants because there was NO time for ironing a new outfit, and me and my muffin top head out the door. I was already in pain after .2 seconds and the thought of my button popping off the minute I sat down was running through my head.

By the grace of God and some seriously strong thread my button managed to stay fastened to my busting belt line, but right then and there I decided to turn over a new leaf. I got home from work, peeled off my painted on pants and went for a walk! They say if you do something 27 times it becomes a habit....only 26 more days...oh joy.... :)

Although I am not proud of my moment of awakening, I figure if I accept my issue of shrinking clothes, and say it out loud (or write it in cyberspace), then I might have a better chance of actually making it work this time....so here's to honesty among friends.

Wish me luck....and self control! Here goes nothin'!

The Rook-meister

Allow me to introduce you to my little man. Rookie is our, almost, 4 year old Yorkie and the source of much enthusiasm in our household. I got Rookie as a surprise Christmas gift in 2005. It's actually now the family joke that we have to "stick to the list" going forward. We kid....Rookie was the best gift ever! He is full of energy, totally trusting, cute as a bug, and just slightly off. :) He is also a well documented dog. What can I say, I like to take pictures! I will share a few of my favorites since Robbie asked so nicely!

This picture was taken in the front yard of Rookie's new house yesterday!
Pictures with Santa (2 Christmases ago)
This was Rookie's Santa costume this past Christmas....he was none too thrilled with me!

Rookie LOVES to play fetch!

Rookie with his bestie Maggie this past Halloween. He was a spider and she was Miss Mardi Gras Maggie. They went to a dog costume contest and Maggie won!!
Elvis has left the building! Rook's first Halloween (Costume given to him by his aunt Kristen!)
Anything you can do I can do better...I can do anything better than you! He LOVES to swim!

Rookie's 3rd birthday (He had a BAD haircut...thanks PetSmart)
I love this dog! Happy Monday!

Fabulous Find Friday!

Thank you for your prayers for Bradley and her family! Her mom's surgery went well and the healing has begun. Last night, Allison said she was alert and very "chit-chatty", so praise God!

Now, let's get down to fabulous find business...my first find is SUPER cute and just what the doctor ordered to spruce up any cubicle! This adorable paperweight might even make those ugly documents under them look like fun!

And after you have completed the paperwork underneath those precious paperweights, you will probably need somewhere to file them! (This is right up Bradley and Lynch's alley...) These super stylish file folders will keep you at the top of your game!

I point out Bradley and Lynch because I have never seen anyone who gets so excited over decorated file folders as Bradley, and I have never known anyone as in love with toile as Lynch. There's free shipping all weekend, so by next Friday, we can all be working in style!

Prayer for a friend

Hi friends! I have a request today, please keep my friend Allison, her mom, her dad and brother, and her mother's surgeons in your prayers today. (And any other day you feel like lifting them up!) Allison's mom is currently in surgery and I earnestly pray that the doctors are skilled, rested, thorough and deliberate as they work to remove all of the cancer from her body.

These are long hours waiting at the hospital, looking at the swinging doors EVERY TIME they open hoping it is the surgeon coming to tell you the surgery is over, the patient is fine, the healing can begin. I pray they feel peace as they wait, comfort knowing their mother, wife, friend is in the hands of wonderful surgeons, but even more comforting, she is in the hands of the Great Physician.

We love you MP the Braids, and we wish you a full and quick recovery!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ~ Philippians 4:6

Purple Rain, Pu-ur-ple Ra-a-ain...

Apparently, purple is the color of the season. No one consulted me, or they would have heard a big fat...doubtin' it! Purple is my least favorite color in the color-wheel y'all. Ok, maybe pea-green, but purple is pretty close. Now, for those of you who had purple bridesmaid dresses, or purple is your signature color, or you actually want to be the flying purple people eater, I'm sorry if I have offended you....I just don't really like that particular hue. I'm just so surprised that EVERYTHING is purple these days! The front of every catalogue in my mailbox yesterday had some purple item. A Chair, a pillow a lamp...So, I guess my house will not be in style this season, because casa T-Rog will not be decked out in purple throw pillows and such.

Purple VELVET bedding from Potterybarn

Michael Kors y'all...for Nordstrom....seriously?

Purple leather...Crate and Barrel

No words...

***OH NO...in my search for purple products for your pretty little eyes to see I found an entire store devoted to purple merchandise...yikes!

So tell me what you want, what you really really want!

**UPDATE: Last night, mom threw out the idea of camo colored shirts...possibly with pink writing...think on these things!

The Race for the Cure is fast approaching, and as many of you know, we have a team for the Austin RFC in honor of my mom! Mom is a 2.5 year survivor! Woo-hoo!! This year, we also get to begin celebrating my dear friend's mother who is currently battling breast cancer. It really helps remind us of why we continue to search for a cure. I don't want to share anymore information about my friend (since I haven't asked permission!), but please keep her and her family in your prayers as her mother will have surgery this week. Please pray for peace comfort and great skill from her doctors. It is an honor to be able to pray for each other.

I'm getting excited for RFC Team Zsa Zsa 2008, and I have begun to think about the details of the pre-race party and the team t-shirts. Fellowship with friends....I know how to put that together! T-shirt design......that is a shortcoming. Here is how you can help: brainstorm t-shirt colors and designs and send me your brilliant ideas! Get your friends to help, your fabulous co-worker with endless design abilities, whatever works. Tell me what YOU want for this years t-shirt.

Keep in mind these few things:
1. It's great for the t-shirts to be a color instead of white. We had a precious white shirt the last 2 years, but all of the Race for the Cure t-shirts that you get with registration are white, so we tend to blend in. Having a color is also an easy way to spot our team when we try to meet up for the race.

2. The survivor shirts are pink, so no pink either. :)

3. The design needs to include our team name and the year, which is Team Zsa Zsa 2008

4. We've always included mom's slogan, which is "There's no place like hope!"

Other than that, let your creative juices flow! You can e-mail any designs to teamzsazsa2008@gmail.com . I can't wait to see what you come up with. Also, If you would like to join us while we Race for the Cure on November 2, 2008, or if you would like to donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation through our race team please visit our race page: Team Zsa Zsa

Thank you a million times over for your continued support for me and my family. I thank God that we can work together to find a cure for this disease and I thank God for you!

XOXO,
Tiffany

Fabulous Find Friday! Take a Stand

I missed the Stand Up To Cancer special on TV last Friday because I didn't have cable at the time. Mom has recorded it, but I haven't had time to watch. I have heard it was pretty amazing! With all of the press and 3 networks coming together for such a great cause, I was intrigued to visit the website and check it out! I am so excited to show you a couple of things being done to honor those who have fought the fight against cancer, but also ways you can assist in research and developments to fight this disease....and you can get a cute little something in return! (Think jewelry!)

First, I want to show you something TOTALLY cool being done at www.su2c.org . You can go to this website and launch a star into the constellation in honor, memory, or celebration of a loved one who has dealt (or is dealing) with cancer. You can donate as little as $1 and then let the person know you have added them to the constellation!

After honoring someone by launching a star, why not commemorate the whole ordeal by ordering one of these AMAZING necklaces??

I'm not going to lie, the necklace started this whole thing! Mom saw Sally Field wearing it on GMA while doing a promotional interview with Diane Sawyer. Sally's mother is currently fighting cancer. We looked it up on the internet and fell in L-O-V-E! Isn't it precious? It is designed especially for this event/cause by Jennifer Meyer. All net proceeds from the STAR will go to benefit cancer research. They have it in gold, white gold, silver, and then for those of you with more flow than me, you can upgrade to the diamond encrusted edition. Tres Chic! This silver necklace shown above will set you back $250 smackaroos, but it's a small price to pay to help a great cause...and let's face it, you get something totally adorbs in return.

Happy star launching! Let's Stand up to Cancer!

M.I.A.

Well, well, well. Look who's back in the land of the living. Or at least the land of Internet and cable TV! That's right folks, take away my TV and Internet and I am lost. I've spent the last week wondering if they found little Caylee, where Ike will make landfall, what Brit Brit's comeback at the VMA's would be like and a host of other things that only today's technology can tell us in a nano-second.

As for where I've been (because I'm sure you've missed me)...we've been moving. That's right, into our home sweet home! But in order to do so, we had to move out from the THIRD FLOOR. Third floor=misery while moving. I spent what would be equivalent to 3 full days on the StairMaster. Miserable. And, I'm not sure what we were thinking when we decided to move in August....in Texas! Can you say H-O-T! Really I guess it was the first week of September, but August just sounds hotter and I wanted you to feel our pain.

In all, the move went well with no major bumps in the road. Mom and dad helped a ton (and it was dad's week off of work! How nice to spend it with us!) and for that, I'm grateful. I can't wait until you all pop in! Our door is always open.

In the midst of moving, we took Thursday night to play in our church softball game. Remember the pics from week one? Remember how I said we lost, but according to my fortune cookie "Once we learned to lose we would win"? Well, apparently we still haven't learned to lose because we still haven't won.....but, this week we did hold our opponent to under 20 runs!! Way to go defense! Unfortunately, this week my leg played a little bit of defense and I was PEGGED with a line drive while playing 3rd base. Let me tell you, I cried. There may be no crying in baseball, but there sure was crying in Austin Rec League softball! I am not sure I have ever felt physical pain like that before. I will show you a picture, but, it does my battle wound no justice! I think Taylor enjoyed watching me wretch in pain as he "rubbed out" the knot on my calf with a baseball.

"Hi, Austin Rec League? It's me, Tiffany. Could you please tell homeboy that plays in the competitive league not to come 'take a few practice cuts' against the poor souls in the novice league! Thanks!"

Special thanks to mom (playing 1st base) for letting him know it was inappropriate to hit girls. :) Thanks ma!

XOXO,
T-Rog
